Here are some bar tools that are essential to making a great cocktail. If you’re looking to up your cocktail game or just your bar cart, here are some of our favorite picks. (Pro tip: they also make very good gifts.)
Usagi Cobbler Shaker
This shaker is designed for aeration. It has small and round shoulders, making everything really easy to whip around in there. It has a cobbler shaker lid with a built in strainer and a small metal cap.
Booker and Dax Cocktail Cube
It’s been proven that an ice cube measuring two inches per side produces the best textured cocktail, but not all of us have said cube laying around. BDX’s Cocktail Cube, which is the same density as ice, can be added to a shaker to create a perfectly textured drink.
Silicone skull ice mold
Not only are these super spooky, they’re also large and slow-melting. For non-scary moments, you can grab any good silicone mold.
Yarai mixing glass
Yarai’s heavy duty mixing glass is dishwasher safe, and fits a standard strainer. It’s perfect for mixing a martini or Negroni and looks awfully nice on your bar cart. The seamless one looks slightly more elegant.
Koriko Hawthorne Strainer
This straightforward strainer has a tight coil so you don’t have to double strain. Really easy to impress your friends with this thing.
A book for enthusiasts at any level, Cocktail Codex distills four base cocktails as a way to think about mixology. It improves on drinks you know and love, and also suggests some original cocktails. It’s one of our very favorites.
